Speech Arts and Drama
Speech Arts and Drama, also known as Spoken Arts, aims to cultivate confident and expressive speakers through focused voice development and performance-based training. The curriculum is diverse, encompassing verse, prose, dramatic scenes, speeches, mime, improvisation, and storytelling. At its core, Speech Arts involves the vibrant and skilled presentation of these literary forms. Instruction is offered through both private lessons and group classes.
Traditionaly known as ‘private elocution lessons’ Speech Arts training continues today and is offered at Performing Arts Conservatories around the world. There are several exam systems for Speech Arts and Drama including the Royal Conservatory of Music, Trinity College London, LAMDA, etc. The syllabus for this discipline includes declarative knowledge in written theory examinations or viva voce and procedural knowledge in practical examinations.
As students strengthen their oral command of the English language, they often gain confidence that extends into all areas of life. Spoken Arts training enhances vocabulary, boosts reading comprehension, nurtures self-assurance, sparks creativity, and fosters a lasting appreciation for literature.
Studying the Performing Arts helps students realize the full potential they have as human beings. Through art, our society can foster mutual connection and togetherness.
